Perfect. Should come in every Kamado. Makes cleaning and getting rid of ashes a breeze and I love the possibility of partitioning the fire basket in two for a specific cooking setting.Essential addition to the Kamado JoeLike that you can control heated cooking area. Basket is a little heavyI really like it; exceptional quality. Also better airflow for more steady temperature. If you own a Kamado grill that this basket will fit, you will absolutely love this basket. First install a kick ash or similar pan to catch the ashes. Then put this basket over it. After you have finished your cook and your coals are cold, simply pick up the basket a few inches and shake it up and down. The ashes will fall into the basket and the side of the kamado. Then gently remove the basket so as to not cause leftover charcoal to fall out of the basket. Now all that you have to do is, with a small broom or brush, sweep the ashes into the ash pan, empty the pan and then return the ash pan and the basket and your done with the cleanup. I know you will love this product. I always use the basket divider as I have yet to find a need to use a complete full basket of charcoal. I use my kamado 2 to 4 times a week, year round, except in really bad weather. I highly recommend this product. If you own a Kamado Joe ceramic grill this is "must have" accessory! It allows you to remove the circular cast iron plate on the bottom of the grill. You get better airflow with that plate removed. After the grill has completely cooled I simply bounce the charcoal basket up and down a few times and all the small stuff falls into the ash tray. Again, this is a must have for your Kamado Joe.I have a KJ Classic 2 (I'll write a review, last one Amazon failed to accept it and I lost the page. That'll teach me to do a long and detailed review...)Anyway, the Classic 3 comes with this basket. the Classic 2 doesn't and has a cast-iron circular grate at the bottom of the firebox. This is superior, and one of the first upgrades to do especially if you do low and slow cooking as you get more air, and ashes fall down more easily. This is built like a tank, super heavy, and impressive. And this rapidly looks really old, as the temp of the fire gets a lot of the shine away...Pros: improved airflow, easier to shake, easy to move all coals (lift the basket) to make some space to go clean up the ashes.Cons: expensive, and any small bit of charcoal (yes, even quality lump charcoal has some small chunks, plus the big blocks you burn become small as they are consumed) fall through. So this might waste a bit of charcoal.A very good idea for users of Kamado Smokers - A Delight to use.I bought this for a Kamado Joe Classic. It states that it fits, but also states it fits the KJ classic 2 and 3. It’s not possible, as they are completely different sizes. This is too deep to fit the D&C setup. Will be returningI bought a cheaper version of this charcoal basket just over a year ago, thinking that I could save a few pounds since it is just a charcoal basket. The cheap version only lasted less than 2 years and before rusting badly and the weldings broke loose. I wish I went for the original one as the difference in quality is night and day.Its going back.. quality is fantastic, but its was too big. You cannot have the deflector plates installed at the same timeMakes cleaning easier and helps with containing coals if you just want to heat half - very good. Highly recommendedI purchased this for my kamado Joe Classic 2 to give me more control when indirect cooking or using the rotisserie. So far so good, the separator does move out of position if you’re not careful but this is a minor gripe as the overall quality is clear and it does seem to help airflow as well. A bit pricey but I’m glad I made the investment.
