I placed this insert into a large heavy stock pot. Finally I can deep-fry things (chicken wings, salmon croquettes, French fries, breaded flounder, etc.) without that awful greasy residue ending up everywhere. The pot is about 10" high and 12" in diameter, and this insert is a perfect fit inside it. The oil I fry in is about 2-3 inches deep, and I don't even have to use a splatter screen because the droplets that would have been aerosolized end up on the sides of the tall pot (and insert) and fall back down into the oil. Now I don't have to relegate all of my deep-fried shenanigans to the outdoors. I just leave this indoor "fry-daddy" by my stove, with the glass lid on, and whip it out whenever I need it! I hate I didn't discover this before!
